Jessica Greiner- Spring Ball 2013

Spring ball is one of my favorite times of the year; it is a chance to work on individual volleyball skills and team bonding in a different environment than in the traditional season. This spring ball is also the first time that we got to work with our new coach, Coach Pike.

Last Saturday was our spring ball tournament, it was kind of a sad moment for me, since as a junior it was my last spring tournament but I was still excited to get out there and play against an opponent. Overall it was a good day, we played hard teams and coach tried tons of different rotations and put different people in different spots which I think was a different and fun experience for a lot of the girls. I can’t wait to keep practicing and working hard for the remainder of our spring ball season and I really can’t wait for the Fall 2013 season to start!

Jessica Senek: Mid-Season Update

Jessica Senek and the Golden Eagles take on Nazareth at 7:00 pm tonight
It seems like it’s been months since our first tournament in Baltimore, Maryland (Goucher), but it’s only been a couple of weeks!! We sure have stayed busy with a tournament every weekend and games every Wednesday, but our team is still working hard. Despite our upsets at Goucher, we came back the next Wednesday to compete in an exciting win against D’Youville. We took them to 5 games and came back to get the win.

Over the next couple of weeks we traveled to Elmira, Cortland and Union. While in Elmira we took a little visit to Jaime Snyder’s house and it was great to hang out with the team. A lot of player’s parents were there and they made us one of the greatest meals ever. I think me and Nicky (Jones) and Jess (Greiner) ate about 10 pieces of garlic bread.

This past weekend we traveled to Geneseo to compete in one of our most important tournaments, SUNYACS. Unfortunately we lost all three games, and it was a heartbreak. But this won’t put us down, we are focusing day after day to push through this phase and succeed. And we will!! After we played at Geneseo, we stopped at Coach Schlegel’s parents house on Consenus Lake. It was perfect. It was right on the water and was awesome inside. To conclude the visit, Nicky, Coach Burdick and I had a couple heated games of UNO. Sadly, Coach didn’t win a game, but he's still number one in our hearts.

Jaime Snyder: Let the Season Begin

This season has started off with a lot of hard work from everyone! Practices are going great and the team seems to be coming together better than ever! We have all gotten really close and even had a team dinner at Jess Greiner's house that was full of excitement. We were fed by her wonderful parents and even got to play on all the toys in their back yard including a trampoline, a swing set, and a seesaw. We also watched Jess Senek swim in the freezing pool, the water was way too cold for anyone else to go in!

This week should be the real test for us. We will be preparing for our first tournament and are traveling all the way to Baltimore, Maryland on Friday. While there, we will be matched up against some tough competition and we will even get a little sight-seeing in. We get to go to the Hard Rock Cafe for dinner, and to hang out at the Inner Harbor as well. I am excited to see what this season brings and to see what we will accomplish throughout it!

Jaime Snyder: Summertime

This summer has been an interesting one to say the least. Just six days after arriving home from college, I flew down to Jacksonville Beach, Fl to live with my cousin and watch her kids all summer. The house is just a few blocks from the beach, making it an easy walk there everyday! Not only have I been hanging out in the sand and waves every weekend, I have also been running the shore most nights along with lifting at Planet Fitness as well. Since being in Florida, I have also gotten to see my Grandparents a few times which I enjoyed very much. They were even so kind to take me out to Carrabba's, my new favorite place to eat! Along with seeing them, I got to visit my friends in Orlando that I grew up with before moving to New York. That was a blast from the past. As much as I have loved and missed living down here, I can not wait to get back to New York and see my family and friends. I also can not wait to finally get back to college and start the volleyball season out strong! I am very excited to meet the new members of the team, and kick off the season with a strong start!

Spring Ball- Jaime Snyder

This was my first season of spring ball and from what I have been told it was a lot different than usual. It was only in the month of February and not the whole team was able to come to every practice, but we got a lot of one on one work. During practices we would do hitting lines (my favorite!), serve receive, and other drills. We would do a little bit of conditioning every practice and also do mini games. The practices were fun and it was really good to be playing again! I was starting to miss the team and playing every day like we did in the fall! The team and I have also been doing the ACE’s machine every Tuesday and Thursday. This is a way to make sure we keep up with part of our work out and help the Ex-phys department as well. The ACE’s study is a quick workout that is supposed to help us get faster and jump higher. I don’t mind doing it and it is really good for us!  Chelsea and I still work out together every day now that we have the spring work out plan and once it gets nice out us and a bunch of our friends play at the sand court by my dorm. That is a lot of fun too! Spring break is also coming up so everyone is excited for that!

Winter Break- Jaime Snyder

This past break was full of excitement! I couldn’t wait to go home and see my friends and to hang out with all of them. Then there was my family, my pets and most of all my bed! I think my giant, comfy bed was one of the best parts of break. The other best parts were my mom’s home cooked food, having my car and so much. Christmas was great as well! Minus when my siblings all came and woke me up at 8am to open presents, even though we are all in college or high school.  I still got up and threw on my cheetah print footy-pajamas and went down stairs with them though! Next, there was New Years. This night was a blast of course. My friends and I all went to one of our houses and counted down the minutes until the New Year. After the holidays were over though, being home alone all day began to get boring and I couldn’t wait to get back to Brockport! I was texting Chels (Chelsea Ross) all break and talked to Cassandra (Inserillo) and Katie (Kenny) and the other girls on the team! I couldn’t wait to get back to school and see all my friends here and play spring ball either! I didn’t know I would miss being at college so much until I was gone, but my break was so much fun at the same time!
